In modern phones, as you probably noticed, you can fit more characters, such as 700, but unfortunately, the operator will take a payment for ten SMS. But there is a small trick, which you probably did not know - point is that a message written in Latin letters on the same phone contain to 160, because the original short message service are designed to Latin characters. So you can switch the language in messages settings of your phone to the English and write longer sms. It is not so comfortable, but more cheaper!
